Android 2.3 Gingerbread will Hit XPERIA X10 Soon

The Sony Ericsson EXPERIA X10 soon will get it’s Android version update. This news was gained from Sony Ericsson’s blog as they announce it officially that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will be available for Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 in the second or third quarter of this year. That is a pretty surprising announcement from Sony Ericsson since earlier it had no plans to roll other update to XPERIA X10 besides the Android 2.1 Eclair.

Notification will be sent to customer when the update is available to carrier-branded Xperia X10 devices, though it is doubtful that the Android update will ever hit the AT&T Xperia X10. Nonetheless, these are some changes will be made once Android 2.3 Gingerbread snug in the XPERIA X10, here you are:

* The XPERIA X10 will lost some of it’s camera capability such as face recognition, smile shutter, etc due to the Android standard Camera user interface comes along with the update.
* DRM keys for protected content on the phone will be lost in the upgrade process.
* Moxier is replaced by the gingerbread native EAS functionality.
* Media experience widgets and music player will be replacing the Mediascape.
* Since Android 2.3 Gingerbread is not supporting The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client, so this feature is also lost.
* Support for bi-directional languages will be reduced compared to the latest version of the 2.1 version of the Xperia X10.
