Enabling FaceTime Calls on the iPhone 3GS

Facetime is an iPhone application that enables iPhone users to perform video calls. Was only available on the new iPhone 4 wit iOS 4, now this app is also available for iPhone 3GS. A recent Cydia repo, iPhoneIslam, has recently released FaceIt 3GS.

This app enables users to make Facetime calls (note: the 3GS has to be jailbreak and powered by iOS 4.x.). However, it is not yet tested on fourth generation iDevices, but I think there no harm to try this app. Yet the person is also credited in enabling Facetime calling in Middle East.

Below are the step to use FaceIt 3GS to enable Facetime on iPhone 3GS.

1.Make sure your 3GS is iOS 4.1. jailbroken

2.Then, launch Cydia and go to “Manage”

3.Tap “Sources”

4.Once you get in the “Sources” press “Edit” and add this repo:

5.Once the process is done, go to Cydia search and type FaceIt in the search field

6.Once you find it, install FaceIt 3GS

7.After the installation is finished, exit the app then go to Setting >Phone to turn on the Facetime and you are ready to call, happy video calling!
