HTC is one of the household companies in the Smartphone industry nowadays. They’ve produce numerous interesting device, and so far, they didn’t plan to stop as they release their newest device HTC Sensation and the HTC Desire S.
Let’s compare the phones key specification to find the best one between the two, shall we?
Firstly let’s talk about the phones’ form. The HTC sensation has 126.1×65.4×11.3mm, 148g of dimension and weight while the HTC desire has 115×59.8×11.6mm, 130g. Due to the same lineage, both of the phones seem similar in term of look. Both have the good look of the HTC family, extremely well crafted and constructed of top quality materials. If you look at those numbers you’ll find that the HTC Sensation has a slightly bulkier build between the two. It is understandable because the Sensation sports a bigger screen and more powerful hardware in their armory. Nothing to separate in this spec comparison, it’s a draw.
The next spec to be compared is the phones’ display. Again, there is no major difference that could separate the two phones in this spec. HTC equips both of the phones with the same Super-LCD display. There are indeed a few minor differences as the HTC Sensation’s display is slightly bigger than the display of the Desire S and operate at a resolution of 540×960 pixels, over the 480×800 pixels of the Desire S. The lack of striking difference between the phones’ spec result on another draw for this comparison.
The third spec to be compared is the phones’ processor. The HTC Desire S runs in a decent 1GHz Scorpion CPU which is a newer processor than its predecessor and offers 768MB of RAM. The specification will be more than enough to ensure you’re nippy experience when using the HTC Desire S.
If you’re pleased with the HTC Desire S then you’ll be overwhelmed with the Sensation’s as it sports a bigger and more powerful muscle in the 1.2GHz that’s dual-core. With such of muscle you’d expect nothing less than a flying experience with the sensation. The Sensation though has the same installed memory as the Desire S at 768MB. It’s a little bit disappointing because we’d hope for a better memory to accompany the monster processor.
Both of the phones use great processors; however the use of dual core CPU wins this comparison for the HTC Sensation.
The next spec to be compared is the phones’ optic. The HTC Desire S comes with the same camera as the original Desire with the image stabilization, touch-focus, geo-tagging, 720p video capture included to its features list.
Having the same spec as its predecessor the Desire S optical feature also shares the similar flaws. The phone’s camera works well in good light but notoriously has a disastrous result in a darker environment due to the placing and power of the LED flash.
In the meantime the HTC Sensation sports a more powerful spec with an 8-megapixel camera which captures video at 1080p. It does include feature like touch-focus, image stabilization, face-detection & instant capture. The HTC Sensation also uses dual-LED’s so probably the flash issue is resolved. Both of the devices are equipped with VGA secondary cameras.
The use of a bigger amount of megapixel wins it for the HTC Sensation.
The last spec to be compared is the phones’ software. No significant difference here as both of the device run on the same version of Google’s Android OS, the 2.3 version. However the HTC Sensation gets ahead of the Desire S in term of the use of UI as it boasts the newer HTC’s beautiful Sense UI, version 3.0.
To conclude this comparison, it’s fair to say that the HTC Desire S still has plenty to offers and the HTC Sensation offers even more.
