
Today we’ll compare the key specifications of the two relatively small handsets, Samsung Galaxy Ace and the HTC Wildfire. Which one will emerge triumphant, the Samsung’s or the Wildfire S?
The first spec to compare is the phones’ form. The Samsung Galaxy Ace has 112.4 x 59.9 x 11.5 mm, 113 g of dimension and weight while the HTC Wildfire S has 101.3 x 59.4 x 12.4 mm, 105 g. If you already familiar with the original Wildfire handset, you’ve must recognize this S variant easily as both of the device doesn’t differ much. Hence same with the original one, the HTC Wildfire S also suffers the same stocky and a little bit dull appearance.
In the meantime many Smartphone enthusiasts will consider the Galaxy Ace as a smaller version of the Galaxy S. However Samsung smartly scaled it down quite pretty that it still has some cute proportions.
Verdict: The Samsung’s Galaxy Ace has sleeker and much more premium appearance than the HTC, clear winner for the Samsung’s.
The second spec to compare is the phones’ display. Both of the phones come with a rather modest display setup. The Samsung Galaxy Ace sports a 3.5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen at 320 x 480 pixels and 164 dots-per-inch (dpi). Features include Gorilla Glass screen, multi-touch input and an accelerometer sensor as well as a pre-loaded TouchWiz 3.0 user interface.
In the meantime the HTC comes with a slightly smaller screen at 3.2-inches with the same resolution as the Samsung’s device but it features a higher dpi at 180. Features include toughened Gorilla Glass and an accelerometer sensor with the preloaded HTC Sense UI.
Verdict: The Wildfire S might having a smaller screen but it’s also has higher dpi that resulting better display quality. It’s a win for the Wildfire S.
The third spec to compare is the phones’ storage capacity. The Samsung Galaxy Ace is equipped with only 158MB of RAM while the storage function in the phone rely absolutely on the cards which has capacity up to 32 GB with 2 GB initial supplied card capacity.
Meantime the HTC Wildfire S sports a 512 MB of RAM and also the same amount of internal storage capacity while supporting Micro SD card up to 32GB.
Verdict: Both of phones arguably not presenting excellent setup, however it must be said that the Wildfire S features a slightly better storage setup than the Galaxy Ace.
The fourth spec to compare is the phones’ processor. The Wildfire S runs on 600MHz processor while the Samsung Galaxy S features a faster 800 MHz ARM 11 processor on the Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset and an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit (GPU). Both of the processors are decent enough to make the device runs smoothly.
Verdict: The Galaxy Ace provides slightly better setup than the Wildfire S.
The fifth spec to compare is the phones’ camera setup. The Samsung Ace comes with a 5-megapixel primary camera with 2592×1944 pixels of resolution while the features include autofocus, LED flash, QVGA geo-tagging and face and smile detection.
In the meantime the HTC offers a 5-megapixel primary with features includes LED flash, autofocus and geo-tagging, and VGA video capture.
Verdict: With the same 5 megapixel camera the winner of this round comparison is decided with which device has more features, thus the Smasung Galaxy Ace is triumphant.
Last but not least spec to compare is the phones’ operating system. Both of the phones run on the Google’s Android OS. While the Samsung Galaxy Ace comes with 2.2 Froyo, though it’s upgradable to Gingerbread, the HTC already runs on the latest Android version the 2.3 Gingerbread.
Verdict: Clear enough, HTC Wildfire S comes with newest OS.
Overall verdict: The HTC Wildfire has been the better one between the two by dominating the comparison’s rounds.
