How to Install Gingerbread for Motorola Droid 2 Global Leaks

There is good news spreading on the internet recently. The news reports that the Gingerbread firmware for the Droid 2 Global has been released. Thanks to one of RootzWiki forum members aceoyame who provides this ROM for the Motorola Droid 2 Global users. Anyway, the firmware that we are going to reveal the method to install on your Droid 2 Global is reportedly to be the 4.5.606 version and is not rooted, with everything else stock and functional. For those who have familiar with SBF packages, they should have known about its difficulty level. This ROM is quite hard to be understood as the installation will not be using SBF but you will need SBF. Quite complicated, isn’t it? However, for those who have familiar with the term of SBF and RSDLite, they should be able to install this ROM on Motorola Droid 2 Global. But if you were not familiar with those two terms, just don’t worry, read on this article so you will know how to install this ROM on your device.

This ROM does not need any custom Recovery installed, if there was any recovery installed on it, the installation will fail. It also requires you to be coming from a .330 firmware.

There are few requirements need to be satisfied before starting the installation and here is the list:

2.4.330 SBF.
• RSD Lite and Drivers. (64bit drivers)
Gingerbread (4.5.606) leak.

After the requirements have been fulfilled, read and follow the instructions bellow:

The ROM installation process will be split into 2 parts. First, the device users will be required to flashing back to 2.4.330 using RSDLite and then installing the ROM.

Let’s start the process with flashing back to 2.4.330

1. For the first step in flashing back, you need to download RSD Lite and the drivers from the link above and consequently install the drivers.
2. After that, download the SBF package and extract it.
3. Power off the phone and then hold the Volume Up key and Power button together till you enter bootloader mode.
4. Once you have arrived in bootloader mode, the next step is launching RSD Lite on your PC and clicks the “…” button next to the box labeled Filename.
5. Select the SBF file you extracted from the SBF download.
6. Plug the device to the PC via USB and RSD Lite should recognize the device.
7. Hit the Start button and sit back and relax as the files are flashed to your phone.
8. Once the files are flashed the phone will reboot.

Let’s continue with the second part which is installing the Gingerbread firmware.

1. Before installing the firmware, first you need to download the firmware from the link above, then extract the ROM and rename it to update.zip.
2. After that, copy it to the root of your SD card.
3. Turn the phone off, and turn it back on by pressing the holding the X key as you press the power button to turn it on and then hitting the magnifying glass and choosing to install the ROM.
4. Once the ROM has finished to be flashed, simply reboot the device.
