How to Root T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II via ODIN

Samsung Galaxy S II has gained popularity just after the first day of its release. The device has also gathered a lot of fans and as usual, when the amount of fans is growing rapidly, then the developers are eager to get the Galaxy S’s successor on their hands to make something useful for increasing the user experience of the device. Previously, we had learned about a method to gain root privilege of the Samsung Galaxy S II released by AT&T, and today we are going to learn the method to get root access of the same device but this time released by T-Mobile. Actually, the method to gain root privilege on T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II is pretty similar to the method we have learned previously on the other carrier’s Galaxy S II. To gain the root access on T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II, the method will involve the ODIN and is going to need to install recovery followed by SuperUser.zip. Here are the instructions to gain root access on T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II:

1. First of all, you need to download T-Mobile Galaxy S II drivers from here and install them on your PC. Installing the drivers is an essential part to the process of gaining root access of your Galaxy S II as it is a requirement for ODIN to work without performing bug.
2. When the drivers have been completely downloaded and run on your PC, the next step is downloading ODIN from this link, after this, make a new folder on your Desktop called ODIN, and extract the Odin zip file to this new folder.
3. For the third step, you are going to be required to download SuperUser.zip file from here, connect your phone to the computer, mount SD Card as flash drive and copy this zip file to SD Card root.
4. Now power off your phone, remove the back cover and pull out the battery,
5. Once you have pulled out the battery, then put it back on, then connect the USB cable and reboot your phone while holding Volume Up + Volume Down buttons and while plugging the USB cable in PC. This process will lead your phone in Download Mode.
6. When you have arrived in the download mode, open the ODIN folder on your desktop and double click to launch ODIN application.
7. Now your phone has been connected to the PC, it will be displayed with a com port highlighted yellow.
8. The process is proceed with downloading ClockworkMod Recovery for T-Mobile Galaxy S2 and places the .tar file in ODIN folder.
9. Once done, click on PDA tab on ODIN and select ClockworkMod Recovery Tar file you earlier copied to ODIN folder on your desktop.
10. The next step, please click on Start and wait for ODIN to complete the flashing process.
11. Once the flashing process has completed, your phone will automatically reboot.
12. Let your phone reboot into system and once you can see the launcher, power off your phone again and take the battery out.
13. When the process has been finished, then put the battery back in and reboot your phone into recovery. You need to hold Volume Up button simultaneously with Volume Down and power keys in order to boot the device into recovery.
14. After the device has successfully booted in recovery mode, make a Nandroid backup using onscreen option.
15. For the next step is installing the SuperUzer.zip, it can be done by accessing the recovery main menu, navigate to Install Zip from Sd Card option via Volume up and Down key and select SuperUzer.zip.
16. Reboot your phone after the installation Super User flashable zip file process has done.
