Both of them are included to the low priced device class, but it doesn’t mean that they will offer bad stuffs to their future users. As the recently produced device, either Samsung Galaxy Y or ZTE Skate should be capable of some smart tasks including entertainment, organized event and helping the device users to keep in touch with their society. But, from those two devices, which phone represents true value for money? Read on this article to find the answer as the comparison will start in the moment.
Comparison between Samsung Galaxy Y and ZTE Skate
1. Screen Comparison
As for the first round, Samsung rely it on the Galaxy Y’s screen specifications. Samsung Galaxy Y comes with a 3-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen that boasts 240×320 pixels of pixel resolution and 256k colors. What is going on with Samsung? Why do they plant this screen to this device? Frankly, it is hard to understand why. But, though we cannot expect an AMOLED screen to be planted on this device, we can expect something more than the current screen.
In the meantime, the competitor, ZTE Skate is equipped with more techs on terms of screen. It comes with a 4.3-inch TFT touchscreen that operates at a resolution of 480×800, displays 16 million colors and offers an impressive pixel density of 217ppi.
So, it is clear that with larger and better resolution, ZTE Skate has sealed a victory over Samsung Galaxy Y this round.
2. CPU Comparison
ZTE Skate is powered by an 800MHz single-core CPU. This specification provides satisfaction to the users as it is be able to the OS without any major lag. But, once again, this is not the most powerful CPU on the market. Apart from that, the device’s processor is also supported by 512MB RAM that provides better performance when running more than one task simultaneously.
As for the comparison, the Skate’s processor will be challenged by Samsung Galaxy Y’s processor. The South Korean manufactured phone is powered by an 832MHz processor. Despite it seems promise more power through the processor’s specification, we still can’t expect the real speed of performance on Galaxy Y. There is no confirmation about amount of RAM that supports Samsung Galaxy Y’s CPU.
Both ZTE Skate and Samsung Galaxy Y are offering a support for Micro SD cards up to 32GB in size. Through this feature, the future users will be able to store more either data files or MP3s.
The winner of this round is ZTE Skate.
3. Form and Build Comparison
Samsung Galaxy Y is measured at 104 x 58 x 11.5 mm and 97.5g of weight. In term of form, the device is built neatly to be pretty comfortable in our pocket. The device comes with vintage Samsung style of design and constructed with lightweight plastics. Overall, the design is nice but not impressive.
On the contrary, ZTE Skate that is measured at 125.9 x 67.8 x 10.4 mm and 120g of weight offers the future users a robust feel and well assembled body. However, the device’s extra bulk makes it a little awkward sometime.
For this round, we cannot see the winner.
4. Software Comparison
For this round, Samsung Galaxy Y offers specifications that are including Google’s Android 2.3, Samsung’s nice User Interface that is named with TouchWiz. The UI brings some additions into the device. They are widgets, apps and social networking integration.
Meanwhile, the competitor, ZE Skate is also running on Google’s Android 2.3 operating system that is combined with a tweaked UI, with custom widgets and apps inside. The UI reportedly works well and intuitive too.
As Android running devices, both ZTE Skate and Samsung Galaxy Y will be supported with everything associated to Android world such as apps, games and huge customization potential.
For this section, again, we don’t have any winner here.
5. Camera Comparison
Usually most of low priced device come with an awful camera that brings blurry image, but in this case, we are not going to see that stuff as the ZTE Skate comes with 5-megapixel camera, which also offers autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging.
On contrary, when ZTE’s phone proves that the low priced device will never offer good stuff, the Galaxy Y only offers a 2MP of snapper.
For the video recording ability, there is no confirmation about the Skate’s abilities while the Galaxy Y is reported to have this capability at QVGA 15fps.
By reading the camera comparison of both devices, we can see that with limited budget we are not going to always get a bad stuff and because of that reason, the Galaxy Y has to admit that the ZTE Skate’s camera is better.
6. Final Thought
There is no doubt here if we said that the Chinese-made ZTE Skate has sealed a victory over the Samsung Galaxy Y.
In case you wanted to find a decent smartphone, but you got limited financially then the ZTE Skate is the right phone to you. Even though it is not the most recently released phone that offers pretty powerful specifications that includes dual core processor, it is working pretty well.
Meanwhile, the competitor, Samsung Galaxy Y cannot show its power in front of the Chinese made phone in almost every round.
