There is a relieving news for iPhone 4 users. Apple CEO had confirmed the Death Grip/Antennagate will convincingly be solved.

“We’re not perfect. Phones aren’t perfect. We know that, you know that,” Jobs said. This was what Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs said in a press conference Friday to respond the Death Grip issue.

He thought that this issue was over exposed by the media. Steve Jobs was also stating that of course there will be free bumper case for the impacted users then distribute it to users by September 30 and also will give the money back to users who have paid for the free bumper case. This news sounds relieving for both iPhone 4 users and the prospected buyers.

Actually this is not the first case of antenna problem. It is occurred to several smartphone. For the evidence, Apple showed a video of phones like the BlackBerry Bold 9700, Droid Eris and Samsung Omnia II experiencing signal loss when held in certain ways.

There are issues about the iPhone 4, but the biggest issue is the poor signal reception when the phone is held in normal way it covered the antenna and can even caused a call drop. Costumer Reports Lab test on iPhone 4 shows that the phone is hardware defective rather than software.

The Consumer Reports test four iPhone 4 by holding it in many ways and using a base station emulator which acts like one of AT&T’s cell phone towers to send signal to the phones.

It is resulted “Our engineers found that when you place your finger on the gap between the two antennas on the lower left hand side of the iPhone 4, signal strength can drop by about 20 decibels and that’s enough to drop a call”

The test is run on normal AT&T’s wireless network on controlled area where no other phones are connected except the four that has been tested. Now that it is truly a hardware problem not a software problem like the Steve Jobs’ had mention, the Consumer Reports is not recommend the iPhone 4 to the costumer.

More issue occurring due to the Apple’s fine release the iPhone 4. After the antenna issue, now few user claims that they have problems with the proximity sensor during calls. Proximity sensor function is to disable the screen when you are on call with your face on the device so you don’t unintentionally pressing the screen with your cheek.

An iPhone user post comment on Apple support forum stated that “I can confirm that the iPhone sensor is working by covering it with my finger, but when held to my face, the screen blinks as if it cannot decide to disable the screen or enable it, it results on me hanging up, putting calls on mute, and dialing numbers accidentally while I’m on the phone. This occurs on 90% of my calls.” We are expecting that this little problem only need a simple adjustment on the sensor sensitivity by software fix.

Even though it has a dreaded yellow spots shortcoming, it doesn’t needed to worry. It will disappear from the display after few days of use.
